River Conditions
Thursday 12th February
The river is now out of the boathouses but has left its calling card (an inch of brown slime). It should be rowable by the weekend but obviously we will need to do a bit of clearing up first - please come prepared (wellies, old clothes, brooms, enthusiasm etc).
Tuesday 10th February
The river has risen again and is currently in both boathouses. The situation is being monitored as we may need to move boats up out of the way.
Saturday 24th January
The river has gone down and there is much less debris coming down. Unless we have more rain overnight, it should be fine for rowing on Sunday. Bring wellies though!
Friday 23rd January
The river is about 1 foot above the fence - it is fast and there is alot of debris. It is unsuitable for rowing. It is likley to go up over night so it is unlikley that it will be suitable for rowing tomorrow (Saturday) either.
Tuesday 16th December
The river is back within it's banks and rowable again.
Sunday 14th December
NO ROWING TODAY. The river is well up and lapping at the boathouse doors.
Obstruction below bridge
The tree that slid into the river just downstream of the 'Minerva' bank archway of the bridge at the top of the straight is now submerged. This makes it even more dangerous as you cannot see it but may damage the hull of your boat on it. The archway has been buoyed off and should not be used. Please use the other archway with extreme caution when travelling in either direction.
UPDATE: The tree now appears to have slid further into the river, so it is now more submerged and unlikely to be a harard to rowing craft. Might not be the same story for the river pleasure craft though...
Sunday 16th March 2008
The river has rised dramatically overnight and is well up the concrete - it is not safe for rowing today.
Friday 1st February 2008
The river is now firmly within its banks and rowable. There is still plenty of mud around the boathouses and along the banks. Please take care.
Saturday 12 January 2008
Severe flooding of boathouses, car park and railway bridge areas. Boathouses are non-accessible as of 9am this morning. Unlikely that any rowing can take place over this weekend.

Anybody know where the rowing tanks are?!
