Avon County coxless 4 win at Veteran Fours Head, London Avon County Rowing Club’s Veteran F coxless four won at the Tideway Veteran Fours Head on Sunday. In Veteran rowing, this race is one of the year’s iconic events. more

Junior Training Camp - September 2009

Nineteen junior members and coaches travelled up to the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham for a training camp in September.  We arrived on Friday night (just in time for supper) and stayed at the centre. more

Junior Registration for 2009-10 season – Tuesday 29th September Please try to attend this as it really helps us to 'get it all done' in one go. We have held meetings in the past but would like to try a slightly different format this year, whereby parents/carers can drop in at the club any time between 6pm and 8pm. more

Another Great Weekend!

Sunny and Windy Avon County RC rowers and coaches headed back to Nottingham over the weekend of 25/26 July as part of the English and Welsh Home Countries Regatta teams. Former Junior Sean Bathe Taylor represented England in the 2- with CBRC crew-mate Billy Downey. more

Avon Gold and selection to England and Wales HCI teams Avon County Rowing Club took possibly its largest ever entry to the National Rowing Championships held from 17 -19 July at the National Watersport Centre. more

11th and 12th July - what a weekend!

Veteran Henley 2009 Avon County Rowing Club’s Veteran F coxless four won at the Henley Veteran Regatta on Saturday. The oversubscribed international event, raced over 1000 metres on the boomed Henley course, took place over two days of often intense side-by-side racing. more

Thames Valley Park and Ironbridge Regattas

Thames Valley Park Regatta This is held on the Thames in Reading.  It is raced over 500m with three lanes, so it provides lots of exciting racing.  As we expected the standard was very high and several of our crews just missed out on making finals. more

Winners take all!

National Veteran Championships These are held in Nottingham at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrpont over 1000m.  Having been abandoned by their usual fours partners, Jim and Chris bravely decided to have a go in a Veteran 'F' coxless pair - veteran races are all divided up by age, Vet 'A' being the youngest. more

Thaming the Thames!

Womens Head of the River Race- 7th March 2009 For the second year running ACRC sent a crew to London to compete in the Women's Head of the River Race. Held over the famous boat race course on the Thames, it was a formidable challenge!! After an early start that should only ever be seen if a holiday is the reason, we set off to London. more

City of Bristol Head Race

Eleven crews raced at City of Bristol Head of the river on Sunday.  It was a gorgeous day, the event ran well and was on time! Congratulations to Gabriel and the WJ15 4X+ (Molly, Laura, Katherine and CharlotteF, coxed by KateM) who won. more

Christmas Pudding Head

The Annual Christmas Pudding head Race took place on Sunday 21st December at Saltford.  Members from Minerva-Bath RC joined us and the event saw four eights and four quads race over the 1500m course. more

Wycliffe Small Boats Head

Twenty two crews braved the Siberia of Gloucester on Saturday - only to find that is had turned into the Carribean for the day!  Glorious sunshine soon turned the frosty ground of Wycliffe into a minor quagmire as we assembled our boats!  It was like a regatta - people were sunbathing on the towpath, eating ice creams as they strolled along the bank . more

Pangbourne Junior Sculls

Nine crews travelled to the Child Beale Wildife Park at Pangbourne, south of Reading for the Pangbourne Junior Sculling Race.  The event was nearly called off as we have had so much rain in the week leading up to the event and it was a soggy day to say the least. more

Veterans under fire at Ross Regatta

Chris and Jim competed in veteran F pairs at Ross Regatta at the weekend: 'We won on Sunday at Ross! Hereford pair destroyed - river safe again. It was over before it began. more

Wellsway Festival

Eighteen year 7's came and gave sculling a try on July 17th!  They had a great day - thanks to the coaches who looked after them for the day.  Here are some pics: . more

National Championships 2008

The National Championships were held in Nottingham last weekend.  Despite the wind threatening to blow our tents away, racing was completed on all three days - the stiff headwind meaning that times were alot slower than usual! The club had crews in several events. more

Welsh Selection

Rosie and HannahO spent a soggy weekend in Monmouth at the Welsh Junior Womens selection trials.  This is where the team for the home countries match later this month will be chosen. more

Recent Regattas

We have had a busy few weeks recently with crews competing at all sorts of events ... National Veteran Championships Our intrepid Veteran E (average age 55) coxless four made the annual pilgrimage to Nottingham for the National Veteran Championships. more

Wessex Invitation Regatta

Twentysix crews made the annual pilgrimage down to Bryanston School near Blandford Forum for the Wessex Invitation Regatta last Sunday.  As usual, the sun shone and everyone had a great time racing over the nationally recognised distance of 270m!  We contested 18 events - and won 5 of them!  This is despite the fact that of the 31 rowers who took part, 23 of them had never raced at a regatta before!  Everyone raced well with lots of crews getting through rounds and into finals. more

B&NES staff have a go at rowing!

When we signed onto the Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Get Active Scheme I'm not sure we really knew what we were letting ourselves in for!  B&NES are keen to get people more active and have started their campaign by targetting their own staff and offering taster sessions for them to try out new activities. more

Womens Head of the River

When Penny arrived at slough Holiday Inn with the boat trailer the night before WHORR we (Penny, Sal, Ann L, and Dina O) battled with the wind and rain to park the trailer, with the awful thought at the back of our heads that there was no way that the race was going to go ahead, however the next morning dawned bright and cold with a slight wind to wake us all up. more

City of Bristol Head Race

Eight Avon crews raced in the historic Bristol Docks over the traditional 3000m winding course on Sunday.  All areas of the club were represented with Veteran, Junior and Women's crews all competing. more

Annual Dinner

The Annual dinner will be held on March 8th (the evening of our head race) at the Old Mill Hotel, Bathampton.  We are very fortunate to have secureed Alison Mobray - Olympic Silver medalist from the womens quad - at the Athens Olympic to speak. more

Fun and frolics!

Bryanston School and City of Bristol RC came over to Saltford today for a practise head race.  Three divisions in glorious sunshine - and no swimmers!  Well done! Results are here . more

WJ16 eight triumph!

Five crews braved the 'Siberia of Gloucester' for the annual challenge that is the Wycliffe Big Head!  4500m of 'still' water on the Sharpeness Canal.  Everyone did well but special mention must go to the WJ16 8o who won their class. more
