Pangbourne Junior Sculls
Nine crews travelled to the Child Beale Wildife Park at Pangbourne, south of Reading for the Pangbourne Junior Sculling Race. The event was nearly called off as we have had so much rain in the week leading up to the event and it was a soggy day to say the least. The course was shortened from the usual 3000m to 2700m to avoid a tricky bridge but no-one seemed to mind! Boating was particularly treacherous as the pontoons are exciting at the best of times but much more so with muddy banks to contend with! There was a particularly heavy shower just as the division one crews left the rafts - nice! Luckily it wasn't a cold day.
Everyone raced well, with HannahS and Laura winning WJ14 doubles, and Scott and Gabriel coming second in J16 doubles.
